Purpose:
The Japan-America Society of the State of
Washington is a non-profit, non-partisan, 501(c)3, private, membership-based
organization with offices in Seattle. It is the only group of its kind in
Washington State, dedicated to building communication, understanding, and
long-lasting relationships between the peoples of Japan and Washington state.
Our organization is a member of the National Association of Japan-America
Societies, an informal association of approximately 40 Societies from different
states that meets annually to share programming ideas and expertise.

Purpose: The Japanese American Citizens League is a national organization whose
ongoing mission is to secure and maintain the civil rights of Japanese Americans
and all others who are victimized by injustice and bigotry. The leaders and
members of the JACL also work to promote cultural, educational, and social
values and preserve the heritage and legacy of the Japanese-American community.
The Pacific Northwest (PNW)Regional Office provides support to the chapters and
represents the national organization within the Pacific Northwest region. The
office also responds to inquiries from the membership and general public
regarding JACL matters such as membership, activities, programs, and policy
issues.
