AR staffer publishes young readers’ novel

The Asian Reporter’s calendar editor, K.P. Bath, is the author of a new fantasy novel for young readers. The Secret of Castle Cant, published by Little, Brown & Co., will be available in bookstores and from online booksellers beginning Sept. 1.

K.P. Bath’s short fiction for adults has appeared in a number of literary journals and has been nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize. The Secret of Castle Cant, his first book-length publication, tells the story of Lucy Wickwright, a young maidservant in the remote Barony of Cant who unwittingly becomes involved in a rebellion that threatens her mistress, Pauline von Cant, the Baron’s daughter.

The School Library Journal, in an advance review, calls the book "quirky, funny, and … delightful," and Norton Juster, author of the acclaimed children’s classic The Phantom Tollbooth, praises K.P. Bath as "a storyteller who can chill your blood and tickle your funny bone all at the same time."
