New Year revellers welcome the Year of the Dragon

Throngs of revellers gathered to celebrate the incoming Year of the Dragon over the weekend at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. The event kicked off Saturday at 11:00am and was packed with people all day.

After entering the Exhibit Hall E entry doors, festival-goers were greeted, handed a printed program, and gifted a bag of candy. Slightly to the left were thousands of people milling about — spinning prize wheels, buying New Year clothing, creating arts & crafts, eating delicious food, speaking to booth personnel, picking up literature, collecting free giveaway items, and more. So much more.

Amidst the elbow-to-elbow crowd, there was also a day of performances scheduled onstage. Some of the groups included the Lee’s Association Dragon and Lion Dance Team, the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association Language School, and the Woodstock Mandarin Immersion Program Choir. The stage was bustling from 11:00am to 5:00pm.

A good time was had by all and everyone left with bags of goodies, full bellies, and wonderful memories of welcoming the Year of the Dragon.
